The Markie Foundations Surpasses Quarter Million Dollar Mark in Funds Raised for Children's Hospice
|
Through April 2009, The Markie Foundation has raised more than $250,000 for children’s hospice since its inception, thanks to the generosity of all our wonderful donors. These funds have gone directly to support much needed children’s hospice programs throughout California, helping to make a difference in the lives of terminally ill children and their families. We are very proud of our accomplishments over the past 10 years and grateful for the tremendous support we continue to receive from our many supporters. We look forward to this continued generosity and sharing our future achievements as we continue to carry out this special mission in honor of Markie.

TMF Pledges $30,000 to Support Much Needed Children's Bereavement Program
|
The Markie Foundation has pledged to disburse $30,000 throughout 2009 to Sutter North Hospice for its children’s bereavement program. Specifically, the disbursement is for the development of sibling bereavement services in the underserved areas of Sutter, Yuba City, Marysville, and surrounding region. Thus far, The Markie Foundation has helped fund an additional bereavement coordinator at Sutter North Hospice, who is already making a difference by serving families in need who otherwise would not receive this support. The Markie Foundation will rely on contributions and fundraising in 2009 to fulfill its pledge.

In the fall of 2007, Randy Billingsley was chosen as Investigator of the Year by the California District Attorney Investigator's Association. Part of the award was a significant donation to the charity of Randy's choice. "I truly believe the work done by The Markie Foundation is important to famiies that desperately need assistance for their terminally ill children, and that is why I selected this organization as my recipient," said Randy. Congratulations to Randy on his prestigious honor and thanks for his generous support. Read about the award.

"We chose pediatric hospice because of the wonderful experience we had during Markie's last six weeks of life. The skill and devotion of our hospice nurse enabled us to effectively care for Markie in our home, by providing us with the guidance to administer his medication and the medical equipment to keep Markie comfortable. The hospice program allowed us to spend quality time together as a family caring for and loving Markie, especially in his final days. We will always be grateful for this gift."--Janis Wuelfing |
