The Markie
Foundation Holds Inaugural Charity Golf Tournament
First
major fundraiser nets more than $25,000 for children's hospice
LIVERMORE, CA, July 31, 2000--The Markie Foundation held
its 1st Annual Charity Golf Tournament on July 31, 2000, at
Las Positas Golf Course in Livermore, California. More than 100
golfers showed up for the event, which raised in total more than
$25,000 for children's hospice programs in Northern California.
"This
golf tournament, our first major fundraiser, turned out to be
a huge success," says Janis Wuelfing, co-founder. "The
level of support and participation--from players, sponsors, donors,
and volunteers--was overwhelming. Most important, we have raised
a significant
amount of money for children's hospice and families in need."
It
was a fun day had by all, despite course temperatures of 103 degrees.
Golfers enjoyed the scramble competition, food and beverages,
tee prizes, and an occasional great shot.

About
The Markie Foundation
The
Markie Foundation was established in July 1999 to honor baby Mark
Warren Wuelfing, who died at four months of age from a severe
neurological disorder. Its purpose is to raise money for children's
hospice programs so that families can receive the support and
services needed while caring for a terminally-ill child at home.
The
Foundation's current goal is to raise $50,000 to hire additional
nursing resources for a local pediatric hospice organization.
