The Markie
Foundation 5th Annual Charity Golf Tournament
Another successful event
raises $11,000 for children's hospice
SUNOL, CA, July 9, 2004--The Markie Foundation held its
5th Annual Charity Golf Tournament on July 9, 2004, at Sunol
Valley Golf Club in Sunol, California. An all-time high of 160 golfers played
in the tournament, which raised in total just over $11,000 for
children's hospice programs in Northern California.
An
additional $10,000 in donations for the year-to-date boosts the
Foundation's total funds raised in 2004 to more than $21,000.
With this amount, the The Foundation has raised approximately
$130,000 since its inception in 1999, moving well beyond its goal of raising $100,000.
"People continue to step up and support The Markie Foundation with great enthusiasm and generosity. This, in turn, enables us to provide valuable resources to families in need," says
Janis Wuelfing, co-founder. "Through our annual golf tournament
and direct donations, we are able to keep the momentum going and continue to make a difference."
Golfers
enjoyed the scramble competition, food and beverages, tee prizes,
and a great golf experience. The
winning team was led by Paul Ventimiglio. A
dinner, raffle, and live auction, followed the tournament. In
total, more than 180 people attended the post-golf festivities.
The
Foundation is already planning the date and location for next
year's tournament and will post that information soon.
