The Markie
Foundation 7th Annual Charity Golf Tournament
Record-breaking event raises more than $17,000 for children's hospice
SUNOL, CA, July 14, 2006--The Markie Foundation held its
7th Annual Charity Golf Tournament on July 14, 2006, at Sunol
Valley Golf Club in Sunol, California. The event drew more than 160 golfers and helped raise over $17,000 for children's hospice, representing the most in tournament history.
An
additional $12,000 in donations throughout the year boosts the
Foundation's total funds raised in 2006 to nearly $30,000.
With this amount, the The Foundation has raised almost
$200,000 since its inception in 1999 and has disbursed more than $150,000 to children's hospice programs. This includes a $28,000 donation presented to the George Mark Children's House at this year's golf tournament dinner.
"This year was very special, with our largest golf tournament to date and the thousands of dollars raised in general donations,"says
Janis Wuelfing, co-founder. " We can't say enough how much we appreciate all of the wonderful people who contribute to our success. With the overwhelming support of hundreds of people, The Markie Foundation continues to carry out its mission to make a difference in the lives of terminally-ill children and their families."
Golfers
enjoyed the scramble competition, food and beverages, tee prizes,
and a great golf experience. A
dinner, raffle, and live auction, followed the tournament. In
total, approximately 220 people attended the post-golf festivities.
The
Foundation will host its 8th Annual Charity Golf Tournament next July at Sunol Valley Golf Club.
