The Markie Foundation 9th Annual Charity Golf Tournament

SUNOL, CA, July 11, 2008--The Markie Foundation held its 9th Annual Charity Golf Tournament on July 11, 2008, at Sunol Valley Golf Club in Sunol, California. The event drew 180 golfers--the most in tournament history--and helped raise more than $12,000 for children's hospice.

An additional $8,000 in donations throughout the year boosts the Foundation's total funds raised in 2008 to more than $20,000. With this amount, the The Foundation has raised nearly $240,000 since its inception in 1999 and has disbursed $177,950 to children's hospice programs. The Markie Foundation has committed to disburse a significant portion of its existing funds to three organizations in 2008, including:

• Children's Hospice & Palliative Care Coalition
• George Mark Children's House
• Hinds Hospice

In addition, the foundation plans to help fund pediatric hospice training for staff at Sutter North Home Health and Hospice.

Golfers enjoyed the scramble competition, food and beverages, tee prizes, and a great golf experience. A dinner, raffle, and live auction, followed the tournament. In total, approximately 220 people attended the post-golf festivities.

The Foundation will host its 10th Annual Charity Golf Tournament in July 2009 at Sunol Valley Golf Club.
