School
donates "Mission Collection" to The Markie Foundation
HAYWARD, CA, December 16, 1999--The students of Moreau
Catholic High School in Hayward, California recently donated
$1,340 to The Markie Foundation. The donation was a result of
the school's Mission Collection service project conducted last
December. The school selected The Markie Foundation as the recipient
of the project, and spent several weeks raising funds for the
cause.
"It
was a total school effort, though the students did all the work,"
says Father Tito Bonoan, the school's director of Campus Ministry,
which drove the project. "At
MCHS, we stress the importance of giving. This project demonstrates
the students' commitment to helping others."
Joe
and Janis Wuelfing, who founded The Markie Foundation in honor
of their late son Mark Warren Wuelfing, are alumni of Moreau Catholic
High School. They received the donation during a presentation
in the school's gymnasium.
"Through The Markie Foundation, the life of their son continues
to have an impact on those within our community who are faced
with similar adversity," says Bonoan."The school was
very eager to help Joe and Janis carry out their purpose,"
says Bonoan.
"We
are extremely grateful for the support from Moreau Catholic High
School ," says Janis Wuelfing. "It exemplifies the Christian
values being taught to students, which makes us proud alumni.
We are deeply--and personally--touched by the generosity from
the entire school community, especially the students.
