The Markie Foundation Partners with UC Davis Medical Center

ROCKLIN, CA, February 12, 2003--The Markie Foundation has formed a relationship with UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento to help expand pediatric hospice in the region.

Building on its nationally recognized adult hospice program, the University is broadening its efforts to support children and their families with respect to end of life care.

The Markie Foundation has already begun working with the University to build a well-defined children's hospice program. Specifically, the partnership will initiate programs that:

  • Increase community awareness of pediatric end of life issues, through conferences, web-based resources, and other outreach opportunities
  • Expand children's hospice education for care providers at the University
  • Provide research for increasing awareness, removing patient referral barriers, and improving care for children who require hospice services.

In January 2004 , the Foundation plans to sponsor a pediatric hospice conference at the University that will bring together a large group of doctors, nurses, therapists, counselors, and other care providers to discuss the importance and need for children's hospice services in Northern California.

The Markie Foundation is privileged to align with such a prestigious organization and will keep you informed of this partnership activity--which will truly make a difference to children and families in need.
